1. About us

The FREE Websites designs, builds, hosts and maintains websites on a monthly subscription for small businesses in the UK and worldwide. We're based in Ashford, Kent, United Kingdom. In these terms, "we" and "us" means The FREE Websites, and "you" means the customer signing up.

2. Who our service is for

Our plans are designed for businesses, sole traders and organisations. If you're buying as a consumer — for personal rather than business use — you also have extra legal rights, set out in our Refunds & Cancellation Policy. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

3. How it works

• You send us your details and we confirm what you need
• You choose a plan — there's nothing to pay at this stage
• We design and build a preview of your website within 48 hours of receiving the details we need (Starter, Basic) or 2–5 days (Core, Premium). Custom project timelines are agreed with your quote
• You review the preview, ask for any changes and approve it
• When you approve, we set up your monthly subscription via Stripe and your site goes live

If you decide not to go ahead before your site goes live, you can walk away — there's nothing to pay.

4. Subscription and payment

• Your subscription is billed monthly, starting on the day your site goes live
• There is no setup fee on any plan
• Prices are as published on our website when you sign up
• We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of any price change, so you can cancel before it applies
• Payment is taken automatically each month through Stripe
• If a payment fails, we'll remind you and allow a grace period. If it's still unpaid after that, your site may be suspended (not deleted) until the payment is made

5. What's included — and what isn't

Your monthly fee covers design, hosting, SSL certificate, technical maintenance and support, as described for your plan on our Packages page.

• Domain name: free for the first year, then £20/year
• Professional email: included on Premium; an optional add-on at £5/month on other plans
• Third-party fees: card processing, booking or other third-party services may charge their own fees where you use them

6. Changes and edits

Everyday changes are included in your subscription: text, photos, prices, opening hours and small new sections. Get in touch by phone, WhatsApp or email — requests made before 2pm (Mon–Sat) are usually done the same working day. Bigger jobs, such as extra pages beyond your plan, a redesign or new functionality, are quoted first so there are never surprise charges.

7. Cancellation

• You can cancel any time, with no notice, by emailing info@thefreewebsites.co.uk or calling 07376 389 472
• There are no cancellation fees or penalties
• Your site stays live until the end of your current paid month; the current month isn't refunded
• We'll give you a full export of your content on request before your site comes down
• At the end of your final paid month, your site is taken offline and removed from our servers

8. Ownership

• All content you provide (text, images, logos) remains your property
• Your domain name is registered in your name and belongs to you — if you leave, it goes with you
• The website design and code we create are licensed to you for use while your subscription is active
• When you cancel, you're entitled to a full export of your content

9. Your responsibilities

• Giving us accurate business information to build your site
• Making sure content you give us doesn't infringe anyone else's rights
• Keeping your contact and payment details up to date
• Not using your website for anything illegal

10. Liability

We'll take reasonable care to keep your website live and working well. We're not liable for losses caused by outages or changes at third-party services we don't control (for example hosting providers, domain registries or payment processors). Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid in the 3 months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If you're a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll tell you about significant changes at least 30 days before they apply. If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
