Refunds and Cancellation Policy

1. Your 14-day right to cancel (cooling-off period)

Because you sign up with us online (a "distance contract"), the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days of placing your order, without giving a reason.

Because we build fast — often within 48 hours — please note how this works in practice:

• If we haven't started building yet, you can cancel within 14 days for a full refund of your first month.
• If you ask us to start building during the 14-day period (which we usually do, so your site goes live quickly), you're agreeing that we can begin straight away. If you then cancel before the site is finished, you may cancel but must pay a fair, proportionate amount for the work already done.
• Once your site has been built, approved and gone live within the 14 days, the service has been fully provided and the first month is no longer refundable. You can, of course, still cancel future months (see below).

To exercise your cancellation right, just email info@thefreewebsites.co.uk — a clear statement that you wish to cancel is enough.

2. Cancelling your monthly plan (after the cooling-off period)

• You can cancel at any time, no notice required to info@thefreewebsites.co.uk.
• There are no cancellation fees and no penalties.
• Your site stays live until the end of your current paid month.
• The month you're currently in is not refunded, as the service (hosting, maintenance and support) is being provided during that month.
• We'll provide a full export of your content on request before your site is taken offline.

3. When you'd be entitled to a refund

• You cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period and we have not yet started building (full refund of the first month).
• You were charged in error or charged twice (we'll refund the difference promptly).
• We are unable to deliver the service you paid for.

Approved refunds are made to your original payment method, normally within 14 days.

4. If something isn't right (your statutory rights)

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, our service must be provided with reasonable care and skill and match what was described. If it isn't, you're entitled to ask us to put it right and, where appropriate, to a price reduction or refund. These statutory rights are in addition to the cancellation rights above and are not affected by anything in this policy.

5. Your domain name

Your domain is registered in your name and belongs to you. Domain registration is included free for the first year; from year two a £20/year renewal applies. If you cancel, you keep your domain.
